FAQS
DO YOU PERFORM ANY PHYSICAL EXAMINATIONS?
No. I do not provide medical care or examinations myself. Instead, I provide support to families as they work with their own medical providers. I can take notes during appointments, do research about terms or diagnoses, and provide emotional support. I work WITH you and your provider(s) to create the best birth plan possible.
WHY WOULD I WANT TO INVOLVE ANOTHER PERSON IN SUCH A HORRIBLY PAINFUL SITUATION?
Trust me, I understand that sentiment. If you are reading this, there is a good chance that you or someone you love is facing possibly the hardest situation of all--child loss. Adding another provider to the mix might seem overwhelming or unnecessary.
However, when our terminally ill son was born, we were not made aware of the many choices that were available to us. And there were many times where we would have loved to have an intermediary talking to family, friends, and providers when we were overwhelmed and just trying to make the best choices we could.
This is where a bereavement doula can be a game-changer. Want research on a specific diagnosis or medical term but don't want to wade through the internet? Let me. Feeling overwhelmed with how to let family and friends in on what is happening? Let's discuss it and come up with a plan that works for you. Wondering how you will handle all of the logistics of meals and lawn care and appointments? I can help you set up schedules and a meal train. Not sure where to even start planning for what is coming? There are birth plans specific to loss that let you take control of as much as possible. Let's have those discussions together.
I can be involved as you want me to be--from helping ease labor pains to updating family and friends to just making myself available when you need to talk. I follow your lead.
HOW MUCH DO YOUR SERVICES COST?
For now, I offer my services at no charge. My husband and I would not have been able to afford a bereavement doula, but we definitely could have used one. I never want money to be the determining factor in how much support a person receives when in need. I do take donations that go directly back into supporting other grieving families. I also have an Amazon wish list that can be found under "Jaron's Hope." I am always incredibly grateful for gifts or donations, as I use my own money to fund this ministry/business.
DO YOU OFFER YOUR SERVICES TO FAMILY AND FRIENDS WHO ARE LOOKING FOR ADVICE AS THEY TRY TO COME ALONGSIDE THE GRIEVING FAMILY?
Yes, I do. As a loss mom myself for the past almost ten years, I have come across many resources for family and friends of those facing pregnancy and baby loss. Please feel free to share my information with anyone who has questions about this kind of loss or how to best come alongside others who are facing it. Again, I do not charge anything for my services, so I am more than willing to share my resources (books, websites, online support groups, in person support groups, children's books and activities, social media accounts, etc.).
